The seemingly never-ending saga of the disgraced Pavilion Theater in Park Slope continues today, with a rather amusing takedown from F'd In Park Slope, who was invited by the theater's new owners for an exclusive sneak preview of the redone space. What they found wasn't pretty.
"The place looked like even more of a shithole than usual, which is understandable because they’re under renovation except… why are they open in the midst of this mess?" FIPS asks. The unnamed new owner is described as "thickly-accented and hilariously cagey," repeatedly declines to explain how he's ensuring that the theater will be bedbug-free, and stonewalls the reporter's requests for information about the theater's sprinklers, smoke detectors and fire alarms (or lack thereof). It's not exactly a glowing review, to say the least.
Despite currently being open for business (and racking up even more complaints), the theater plans to have a "grand re-opening" sometime next month, at which point we encourage the brave souls who dare to enter to report back with their findings.
