Last month, we were giddy when we saw video of Darth Vader haggling with a traffic cop over a parking ticket in Brooklyn. It turns out that Vader's authentic NY accent was no joke: the person impersonating the former Anakin Skywalker was Ron Larse, a volunteer from the 501st Legion, a worldwide organization that promotes interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes and volunteering at charity events. And best of all, he got the ticket dismissed this week. Those Jedi mind tricks DO work!
You can see the original video above, in which Larse pleaded with the cop that he put the ticket on the dashboard. Larse is part of the Empire CIty Garrison, the NY chapter of the 501st Legion. Larse and his stormtroopers were supporting the 5th Avenue street fair in Brooklyn on behalf of a non-profit called the Puppetry Arts Theatre. While he wasn't able to convince the cop at the scene, all he had to do was show photos of the munimeter stub on the dashboard to convince the judge to drop the ticket. That being said, It was still tougher than the last time Obi-Wan Kenobi was at Mos Eisley.
