Been looking for a way to turn the power of your legs into something beneficial for the artistic community? Neither have we, but isn't it time your lazy dilettante legs realized their creative potential? This could be your leg's big break, with the launch of Pedal Power NYC's "Natural Ass Sessions," a series of bike-powered concert rehearsals.
Pedal Power, an organization dedicated to "capturing and repurposing human power," needs volunteer riders to get cranking on a fleet of newly fabricated bike generators, which will be used to power a series of rehearsals with a handful of local musicians (see the full lineup here). The goal is to create an entirely off-the-grid stage using nothing but human energy. Pedal Power is providing snacks to volunteers, and offering the five most active pedalers backstage passes to the NYC Celebrates Water Festival in Union Square on June 26, where the group is launching the first-ever totally pedal-powered music stage in the park.
The rehearsal sessions are being held at 428 Troutman Street in Bushwick during the following times:
Today (Wednesday), 3:30-7:30 p.m.
Thursday, 3-7 p.m.
Friday, 1-4 p.m.
Saturday, 12:30-7:30 p.m. (as part of Bushwick Open Studios)
Sunday, 1-5 p.m. (as part of Bushwick Open Studios)
