Last week, Jersey residents were none too pleased with the $420,000 tax credit they seemed poised to pick up for the first season of the Jersey Shore. But now it looks like none other than Governor Chris Christie himself might step in to, uh, save the day.
While Christie initially said he couldn't argue with the state Economic Development Authority (no matter how badly he wants to), he now claims he has until the end of the week to make a decision about the so-called "Snooki Subsidy." Christie, naturally, blames the mixup on his spokesman, who apparently "misspoke" when he said the Governor had no control over the situation. Please—the Governor always has control!
The tax break has caused widespread outrage among Jersey politicians: "Let us just hope against hope that New Jersey taxpayers don’t end up paying for Snooki’s bail the next time she is arrested," said Senator Paul Sarlo. "What a terrible, terrible and misguided waste." Bailing Snooki out, perhaps, does get old...but all that GTL from the cast didn't exactly hurt the local economy...
