427bikeSHOW0411.jpgA little something to whet your appetite before May's official Bike Month: this weekend we welcome the return of the Dutch-accented New Amsterdam Bicycle Show after a five-year hiatus, and there is quite literally something for everyone, from first-time riders to grizzled bike fetishists.

Bikes, bike accessories and general bike enthusiasts will take over three floors of Chelsea's Center 548 this Saturday. The event, which benefits Transportation Alternatives, will feature bike giveaways, panels bike safety and advocacy, and—of course!—a booth from the grandly-titled Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, who are bringing along "renowned cycling blogger" Marc "Amsterdamize" van Woudenberg to "charm the crowds." (Will he be distributing stroopwafels?) Tickets are available here.

In coming days there are a wide variety of bike-related events to celebrate Bike Month, including the Five Boro Bike Fest (also this Saturday, so you can swing by the Bicycle Show afterwards!), the Bike Brooklyn Beer Blitz, and the annual Blessing of the Bicycles service at the Cathedral St. John the Divine.
