Saint Vitus, the popular Greenpoint metal bar and performance space that suddenly shuttered in early 2024, has found a new home in Bushwick.
In an Instagram video published Friday, Saint Vitus announced they’d now be located at 428 Troutman St.
The video lists fall 2026 as an opening target for the Bushwick location, the former home of the music venue Brooklyn Made, which closed after a little over three years in Feb. 2025.
Since losing its physical space, Vitus has been booking and promoting shows across the boroughs under the name Vitus Presents. Members of the DIY music scene it nurtured since opening in 2011 were devastated when the venue closed.
“For 15 years, Saint Vitus has been holding it down for underground music in New York City,” Assemblymember Keith Powers said. “As someone who has spent many a night there, it’s fantastic news that Vitus gets a new direction and new home.”
Saint Vitus’ 2024 shuttering came after an individual repeatedly complained to the city that the venue did not have the correct paperwork to be hosting large shows, Gothamist reported at the time.
Following a city inspection, Saint Vitus was found to be operating as an “illegal eating and drinking establishment” and had paperwork only for “a commercial store and the storage of machinery.”
City officials shut it down in the middle of a hardcore band’s performance.
