As we reported earlier, The King Ad-Rock (a.k.a. Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz) paid a surprise visit to the MCA Day memorial gathering in Union Square park on Saturday. Here are more photos and videos from the informal memorial, which was organized by Beastie Boys superfan Michael Kearney. In the first video here, Kearney describes how "what's transpiring today is a total testament to the message of Beastie Boys, especially Adam Yauch: you do good things and put positive things out into the universe, people will gravitate toward it."
On Beastie Boys' website yesterday, Horovitz wrote, "good morning. i wanna give thanks to Mike Kearny for putting together MCA DAY yesterday. i feel like a bunch of us been walking around lonely bumping into walls. you got us together, outside and in the sunshine. thank you." Here's video showing Horowitz signing the easels of paper signed by MCA fans, and hugging it out:
There are a lot more of Michelle Lawlor's sweet fisheye lens photos here on the MCA Day Facebook page.
