New York City (or a fake backdrop of it) makes a cameo in Rebecca Black's new video, so there you go, we can weigh in on it! First of all, for those of you wondering "Who the fuck is Rebecca Black?" please refer to this NME article titled "Who the fuck is Rebecca Black?" The 13-year-old's video for her song "Friday" recently went viral because it is the worst video ever made, ever. (The Hairpin calls it an "awk-fest.") You can watch the tweenage trainwreck below, and sing-a-long to lyrics like, "Today is Friday, Tomorrow is Saturday, And Sunday comes afterwards."
Since the video debuted Black has been cyber-bullied by just about everyone. She appeared on GMA last week defending her "talent," at which time she asked Justin Bieber, her idol, to do a duet with her. Today OK! Magazine points out that Bieber may have responded via Twitter over the weekend, while taking a jab at her song lyrics (he Twote: "'sunday comes after saturday?' weird.”) This coming from the boy who wrote, "And I was like Baby, baby, baby ohhh."
For better or worse, she's now got millions and millions more YouTube views than Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way."
