Nearly three decades after it hit the big screen, A Christmas Story is making it to the Broadway stage. A musical adaptation of everyone's favorite (and most quotable!) holiday movie will be opening this fall, at a Broadway theater yet to be announced.

In fact, details are scant—according to Broadway.com, the production (which played a five-city U.S. tour last year) will start rehearsals in October, and will feature "a book by Joseph Robinette, score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul," and will be directed by John Rando. Playbill has some more info, noting that "Peter Billingsley will join commercial producers... to bring the musical to Broadway." No casting has been announced, but we're crossing our fingers for a Rockettes-esque chorus line of kicking "FRAGILE" legs.

We like the added homey touch of the volume being raised.

Performances will begin November 6th, and the production will officially open on November 19th. The show will close on December 30th, because just like your Christmas tree, it's tacky if it sticks around for too long after the big holiday.
