Remember that show we used to watch where all of those people got stuck on an island after surviving a plane crash? This is like that but IRL. Photographer Dietmar Eckell has documented a number of plane crash sites where they planes still lay abandoned—the tie between them all is that no one on board died. He hopes to publish his stunning photos from these shoots in a book, called Happy Ending, and is looking to raise funds via Indiegogo—click through for a preview, and click play below to learn more about the project:

All in all, Eckell documented "15 airplanes that had forced landings [and] remain abandoned" for decades... which is why Sully's crash landing on the Hudson wasn't included. [via Laughing Squid]
